Nintendo’s October Sales
Nintendo haven’t had the best year in terms of sales. In comparison to their major rivals it has been their weakest year and a poor year for the games industry all round due largely to the economy. The company’s revenue dipped a massive 50% in the first half of the year. Sony’s PS3 Slim managed to give it the consoles best year yet. Despite this the Wii’s sales were not fair off equalling its home competition’s combine sales with the Wii selling 507,000 consoles. 320,600 PS3s were sold along with 249,000 Xbox 360 consoles.
The PS3 wasn’t the second best selling console overall though. That honer went to Nintendo again with 457,000 DSi and DS Lite sales. It just goes to show, high quality games with strong reviews aren’t what is needed to make it ahead in the games industry in 2009. What sells best is mess marketed hardware with a novel unique selling point.

Mario is Nintendo's mascot. He is depicted as a short, pudgy, Italian-American plumber who lives in the Mushroom Kingdom. You learn something new everyday.
